Before: Prepare in Advance

Go-bag packed and accessible for each household member

Two evacuation routes identified from your home

Know your zone designation (check local emergency management)

Know where evacuation centers are located

Out-of-area contact designated and known to all

Two meeting points established

Pet plan confirmed (pet-friendly shelters or alternate location)

Vehicle kept at least half-full of gas during risk season

Prescriptions refilled ahead of season if possible

First 10 Minutes: When Order Comes

Grab go-bags (pre-packed)

Gather household members and pets

Medications (prescription — critical items)

Phone and phone charger

Wallet and keys

Laptop or irreplaceable items (only if quick)

Pet carrier, leash, food, water

Before You Leave

Turn off gas (if instructed by authorities)

Unplug major appliances

Lock doors and windows

Leave a note with your destination (if family may come looking)

Take photos of home and contents for insurance records

Let out-of-area contact know you are leaving and where you're going

What to Take (in priority order)

2. Medications and medical equipment

3. Pets and pet supplies

5. Wallet, IDs, important documents (originals if accessible)

6. Irreplaceable photos or items (only if quick)

Follow official evacuation routes (avoid shortcuts during major events)

Listen to weather radio for route updates
